The Marie Sklodowska Curie Professional Women’s Association is announcing another essay contest for the students of Polish Supplementary Schools in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut Area. This year the subject of the essay is The Baptism of Poland – Chrzest Polski 966, with an emphasis on the role of the wife of Mieszko I, Dobrawa of Bohemia.  The winning essays will be rewarded at an event on Thursday, June 17th at the Princess Manor in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Prizes:

1st Prize – $500
2nd Prize – $300
3rd Prize – $200

Age requirement – thirteen to sixteen year olds

Length – five to six typewritten pages, double spaced

Rubric:

  1. • the essay should be written using proper spelling, grammar and essay structure
  2. • information must be accurate
  3. • research must be evident
  4. • footnotes should be properly used when necessary
  5. • creativity is a requirement
  6. • essay must be in the student’s own words

Deadline – essays must be received by May 20th, 2016
